3 Lessons from Narendra Taneja, before he takes the NICCI stage in Stavanger
Some weeks back I had a really good talk with Narendra Taneja, and I will let you in on the key takeaways. Narendra is one of the most respected voices in global energy policy today. He chairs the Independent Energy Policy Institute in New Delhi. He was a Research Fellow at Oxford’s Institute for Energy Studies. He ran the World Oil & Gas Assembly for a decade. He sits on international advisory boards, including Norway’s own ONS Foundation. And he is a serious TV presence, a regular face on BBC HARDTalk and CNN’s Amanpour, and a moderator people trust to run the toughest conversations on stage.
Narendra Taneja
Energy Expert
Global thought leader on energy policy, geopolitics and business
On top of all that, he wrote a whole book about Norway, called “The Far People: A Norwegian Journal.” He studied at the University of Oslo too. He has obviously spent more time thinking about Norway than any Norwegian executive has spent thinking about India.
On 25 August he is with us in Stavanger, as the keynote speaker at NICCI’s India Session, on the sidelines of ONS.
Before that, here are the three things from our talk that every Norwegian energy business leader should hear.
1. You are not hungry enough. Too many Norwegian energy companies are sitting in extreme comfort. Waiting for India to come to them, instead of going out and getting it. Simple as that.
2. The energy business door is wide open, right now. Norway has decades of hard-won expertise in energy. India needs energy badly, and is building very very fast. This is the opportunity Mr. Taneja thinks Norwegian companies would be foolish to miss.
3. Your picture of India is out of date. Whatever image most Norwegian boardrooms are working from, it is old news! Update it, and you get rewarded. Don’t, and you keep losing ground to the ones who do.
What stuck with me the most was not any single point. It was how much homework this man has done on us. Maybe it is time Norway returned the favor.
This and so much more in Stavanger: Narendra Taneja keynotes NICCI’s India Session 25 August, on the sidelines of ONS. In the networking sessions participants can discuss the opportunities with Narendra.
