Strong engagement and Ambassador visit at NICCI member meeting

NICCI gathered more than 30 members at Schjødt in Oslo on 19 February for a highly engaging member meeting that once again demonstrated the value of the network as a meeting place for insight, collaboration and new connections.

A key highlight was the participation of India’s new Ambassador to Norway, Gloria Gangte, at her first NICCI event. In a comprehensive and thoughtful address, the Ambassador showed a strong understanding of the strategic importance of the Norway-India corridor. She expressed clear enthusiasm for continued close cooperation between the Embassy and the NICCI network – both through smaller, targeted initiatives and also larger joint activities at events on high level – likely to happen in 2026. The message was clear: the Embassy sees strong potential in working closely with the business community through NICCI.

The meeting opened with welcome remarks by Inge Kristian Brodersen, followed by a series of short, focused updates giving members valuable insight into ongoing initiatives and opportunities:

Thanabal Vijayaindra (Vidji) presented the work on Indian Talent for Norway’s Needs, with contributions from Pål Grandal from UIA and Mari Strømsvåg representing the Oslo Region, outlining key focus areas and planned activities.

Marianne Aasland introduced the growing international platform of  our member Norway Chess, which from 2026 will be hosted in Oslo and offers a unique arena where sport, business and strong global visibility meet. The event overlaps our Norway India Business Days and a closer cooperfation is in the planning.

Nakul Yadav provided an economic update based on India’s latest Union Budget, highlighting continued investments in infrastructure, manufacturing and digital growth, and a strong long-term outlook for the Indian economy.

Thomas Aannestad shared insights on business travel trends between Norway and India, including increased traffic, strong growth in premium segments and key destinations Mumbai and Bengaluru. Two new members were welcomed and introduced their organizations:

Jørn-Erik Jacobsen, Meril Nordic – part of the Indian giant medical technology company planning its Norwegian establishment in 2026.

Truls Berg, Open Innovation Lab of Norway – who together with NICCI is planning a new study tour to India this year, ten years after the joint Mumbai visit.

NICCI member meetings are about more than presentations. Each gathering brings new people together, new conversations begin, and new connections are formed. Regular updates and increased visibility of initiatives across the network are an important part of the value NICCI creates for its members.

The strong participation and engagement underline the importance of these arenas. When members share knowledge, meet new partners and discover opportunities, the foundation for stronger business cooperation between Norway and India is built.

NICCI thanks all speakers and participants for contributing to a dynamic and inspiring meeting.
